Google Bard vs Google Search: Difference between both AI-powered platforms explained

Google made several significant announcements regarding artificial intelligence (AI) at Google I/O 2023. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, introduced new features for Google Search and updates to Google Bard, the company's AI-powered personal assistant.

Google aims to enhance the user experience with AI capabilities in its Search platform, similar to Microsoft's AI-powered Bing. The new Search feature utilizes AI to provide more helpful responses to user queries. It allows users to ask multi-part questions and offers various options, making it easier to understand complex topics and discover deeper insights. Users can also receive suggested steps and ask follow-up questions, improving the interactive nature of the search experience.

Incorporating Google's Shopping Graph, which includes over 35 billion product listings, the updated Search will streamline the shopping and purchasing process. This integration will make it more convenient for users to find and buy products.

Additionally, Google introduced an experimental feature called Search Generative Experience (SGE) in Search Labs. SGE utilizes generative AI and offers a range of responses to the same or similar prompts. Users can ask SGE to generate new responses if they desire different ones. This feature is particularly useful for creative endeavors, such as generating code for programs or adding captions to photos.

SGE will initially be available through Chrome Desktop and the Android and iOS apps in the United States. Users can enroll in Search Labs starting from May 11, and access to SGE will be activated in a few weeks' time. Google plans to gather user feedback to improve the platform and enhance the overall user experience.

In summary, Google's AI advancements aim to provide more helpful and interactive experiences for users. The new Search feature enables multi-part questions and offers various options, while Google Bard utilizes generative AI for creative tasks. These updates, along with the integration of Google's Shopping Graph, demonstrate Google's commitment to remaining a top platform for information retrieval and user engagement.
